FIND-ing wardrobe staples

Since my last 'fashion' post/rant , rather than focusing on what is getting my goat in fashion,  I have tried to spend my time productively. I have tried to audit my wardrobe, find my style inspiration and find my 'uniform' (post on these steps to come later) and to be honest I haven't got very far. There are a few reasons for this; I don't know how to dress for my size and as a serial dieter with an ever changing shape this is even more complicated I DESPISE shopping for clothes. Clothes shopping on the high street as a plus size woman is difficult.  Add to that a severe lack of confidence, a body shape that is apparently a complete misnomer (small (ish) waist, big mum tum and thighs and a lack of height) and no patience and you are in for a horrific few hours. And don't start me on shoes - I have small but wide feet and very rarely find shoes that fit well so my collection is lacking so much that on the few occasions do manage to put a va...

Why do we need to be age appropriate?

So I started writing this post weeks ago as a real whinge about yet another set of fashion rules that I’m becoming conscious of.  Rules relating to age appropriateness.  My notes for the blog at the time mention Baddie Winkle  and buying the most amazing Disney handbags ever (I'll come on to that later) I can’t even remember now what specifically inspired the post, but the gist was going to be that I’m sick of seeing comments made suggesting an outfit isn’t right for someone's age with no real thought to the impact that comment will have on the individual in question. As a plus size female working in a male dominated professional environment and a parent, I have received my fair share of unsolicited comments about what I’m wearing and how it’s not flattering or not the right colour or not the right length and then when I change my look and revert back to what I’m comfortable in I  get told I’ve lost my personality and I should stop wearing black and I should...

Finding Your Personal Style

When I first started this blog, I wrote a long post about what I want to achieve with my life in the near future, and on that list was to find and embrace my personal style. You can find that post here but sum it up, I LOVE fashion.  I love everything about it. I  follow literally thousands of fashion designers, bloggers, stylists and just downright beautiful people on social media, I read (and keep) god knows how many magazines and books and I know how I want to look but here I am, months on having made no progress, and embarrassingly sitting in scarily similar 'outfit' if you can call it that to what I was the first time I shared my goal. I now have a bit more free time so in the run-up to Christmas, I plan on really focussing on improving my style so I can start the new year with a bang.  To help me do this I have been reading article after article, and I am using this post as a way to consolidate the initial steps I think I need to take to make a real im...

Etsy Favourites // Pin's

I LOVE pins - they are the ultimate accessory as you can add them to anything and change them up depending on your mood. As a huge Clarissa fan as a pre-teen, I have fully embraced the 90's revival and have invested in a vintage denim jacket that I plan to cover in pins and patches (blog here ). This is my current collection though I have a few more on the way to add. Since purchasing the jacket one of my favourite past times is to browse Etsy for pins and patches to add to my jacket and I thought I should share some of the recent additions to my wishlist. IRIS // ARTHUR // STRANGER THINGS // ET // ANCIENT ASTRONAUT // YETI // DRINK TEA // BETELGEUSE // DEMIGUISE // SUPERNATURAL // REAL MONSTERS // JUST PEACHY // ENCHANTED ROSE // DOBBY Do you like my picks - a lot of them are inspired by my favourite TV as a child (and adult !!) Do you collect pins? Do you have a favourite seller I should check out? Tessa  ...

Inspired by // Tokyo Fashion Harajuku Girl in All Black

I love following fashion - high fashion, street style, drag, you name it, it interests me. I have a few places I look for inspiration (books, magazine, websites) and one of my favourites is tokyofashion.com    an online magazine devoted to clothing, accessories, and style in Tokyo, Japan. I have a few looks that I have been inspired by in the last few weeks one of which is this one.... Harajuku Girl in All Black Fashion w/ Faith Tokyo, Vivienne Westwood & Vintage Items All black was always going to appeal to my aesthetic but so did the mix of modern and vintage pieces and the masculine cut of the trousers with the famine lacy camisole. I was so inspired I have been trawling the interwebs to pick a few pieces that you could put together to achieve a somewhat similar look Do you like this look and my choices? Where do you look for your outfit inspiration? Tessa

Inspired by // Queenie Goldstein

My top picks from the board are the Huda Beauty  Textured Shadows Palette - Rose Gold Edition* , the Lime Crime Velve-tin and the  Grey Velvet V Neck Slip Dress * The illustration was purchased from  LaBellaCiambella on Etsy* Tessa

Warby Parker + Topshop

I have worn glasses for all my adult life and I am of the opinion that they are the accessory I wear most and as such serious thought goes into each and every pair. I am always on the hunt for frames with an edge which Warby Parker frames certainly do. I now have quite a wish list from the winter 2016 collection but sadly my prescription and location mean these are a no go, but as I had already visualised how I would style the glasses for this season I thought I should share my looks. Frames // Choker // Lipstick // Jeans // Bag // Watch // Jumper // Boots I could see myself living in this boot and jumper combo - they are just perfect !!                                            Frames  //  Trousers  //  Bag  //  Shoes  //  Jumper  //  Beret The purples and blacks in...

Throwback post WWCW // Denim Jacket with Patches

I posted this blog in January 2016 - expect to see an update on the Denim Jacket in the next few weeks My first ever style icon was Clarissa which is probably showing my age somewhat and I have decided that 2016 is the year I go back to my (un)fashion(able) roots and make clothes fun again. To do this I am going to ask myself...   WHAT WOULD CLARISSA WEAR?? Answer number 1 is a pair of denim shorts with patches which isn't really suitable given my age so the next best thing.. A denim jacket with patches along the lines of these... I have yet to get the jacket (off to eBay I go) but I have already decided on a number of patches and pins (all of which are from Etsy) which as always I wanted to share. My Little Pony Applique Rarity Iron on patch HA FunnyPatch $3.10 Pawnee Goddesses Patch PopCulturePatches $14.00 Plague Survivor Geek Merit Badge Patch StoriedThreads $8.00 Fashion Plates Patch fairycakes £6.00 ...
