My autumn/winter 2016 mood board

Every couple of months I try to change up my look (as much as I can, given practical constraints like money and expectations of my job) and to help me come up with some ideas I always put together a little mood board.

In previous years A/W has been about the blacks and dark greys and browns. This year I want to try and add a bit more colour. Nothing drastic but maybe some rust's and purples and greens and maybe some nudes which seem to be EVERYWHERE at the moment.

There were a few trends from the catwalk that I feel like I will be able to incorporate into my looks with little expense and I think these are the way I am going to add the colour.

Bold earrings in beautiful earthy tones and touches of embroidery on my clothing or in my accessories are what I am going to aim to add to my wardrobe. And then there's the makeup which I haven't quite decided on yet but I'm sure black kohl will feature heavily !!

How does your look change in the winter ? Is there anyone that really inspires your look?

Throwback post WWCW // Denim Jacket with Patches

I posted this blog in January 2016 - expect to see an update on the Denim Jacket in the next few weeks My first ever style icon was Clarissa which is probably showing my age somewhat and I have decided that 2016 is the year I go back to my (un)fashion(able) roots and make clothes fun again. To do this I am going to ask myself...   WHAT WOULD CLARISSA WEAR?? Answer number 1 is a pair of denim shorts with patches which isn't really suitable given my age so the next best thing.. A denim jacket with patches along the lines of these... I have yet to get the jacket (off to eBay I go) but I have already decided on a number of patches and pins (all of which are from Etsy) which as always I wanted to share. Products I have shared lately

I have been making more of an effort to share on social media but with that, the blog has fallen away. I am going to try and find some sort of middle ground so I thought I would start with things I have been talking about elsewhere on social media lately. To start with we have my new favourite book (albeit that it is for children). Mary and Frankenstein - Both the story and the illustrations and enthralling    And this is another gorgeous children's book that I got for the illustrations, though more specifically the colour palette. I think the pop of neon with neutral colours is something I want to experiment with.   what is your favorite illustrated children's book? Finally - my product of choice at the moment is Turner gouache though I am going to treat myself to some of these Shin Han hybrid paints this month to try them out I have set up an Amazon store with some of my favorites so it is easy for you to find everything I love in one place.   h...

Filling up the creative well when you are struggling....

Maya Angelou famously said “You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” but I am sure I am not alone in not struggling with the concept, especially at the moment. Anyone who knows me personally will know that I have battled with my mental health for over half my life and despite an amazing support circle, the right medication and a whole toolbox of tools, sometimes my mood just dips that little bit lower than normal and despite a real urge to create (something, anything !!!) nothing appears.  I am by no means an expert and I sat here writing this rather than creating, so read into that as you may, but there are a few things I have been doing recently to try a keep my creative spark alive until something clicks and I can spend a few hours creating for me again. 1. Keeping up with my favourite creators on Social Media Dina Wakley is a huge inspiration of mine after first seeing her  on YT a few years ago, and she has been so generous wi...
